![]() ![]() We see that even more so in this book, and we hear his internal monologue giving us bits of the history there to understand even more. Juliette continues to be in such a precarious position, and Kenji takes so much of that weight on his own shoulders because he’s been closest to her for the longest time, and because it’s his nature to be overly compassionate. There’s always been this humor about him, the ability to make situations less dramatic, but what we find out here is that there’s even more drama and depth than we ever knew. This time around we get a snippet about Kenji – what’s going on in his head personally and what he’s being left to clean up in reality. Ms Mafi does a fantastic job of grounding us in the moment in time where the world has completely turned itself upside down. So, in this novella, where we are is a bit out of sync in my mind but that’s ok. ![]() The ending of Restore Me left readers gasping, and this novella full of Kenji’s signature sass and big heart is the perfect story to tide fans over until Defy Me, the shocking fifth book in the Shatter Me series, hits shelves in April 2019.Įvery time we get a new installment, i’m reminded that it’s been a while since the previous one, and while I hate being in limbo and a bit fuzzy on details, I don’t quite have it in me to re-read everything to get fully back up to speed. Review: On Writing: A Memoir of the Craft by Steph.Juliette is still reeling from Warner’s betrayal, and Kenji is trying to balance his friendship with her with his responsibilities as a leader of the resistance against the Reestablishment. Things get even more interesting when an unexpected person from Omega Point’s past surfaces.Top Ten Tuesday: Most Anticipated Releases of the.Top Ten Tuesday: Books on My Summer 2019 TBR.I’d read if all over again, though, because: Kenji.Īll in All: Not essential reading in order to follow the series, but no doubt Kenji fans will want to check this out. While of course I enjoyed Kenji’s often hilarious take on everything and everyone-especially Warner- Shadow Me didn’t shed as much light on his character as I’d expected. With Kenji being the kind of person who freely shares whatever is on his mind, I’d hoped to gain more insight into that mind rather than just observing the chaos of the ending of Restore Me through his eyes. I didn’t feel we got to dive into his character the way that we did with Warner’s in the series' first novella, Destroy Me. Instead the novella is more of a retelling of the last few chapters of Restore Me from Kenji’s perspective. I was surprised that Shadow Me only touched on that briefly. Plus I was hoping to learn more of his backstory. Kenji’s unfiltered, in-your-face snark is one of my favorite things about the series. ![]() Review: I LOVE Shatter Me’s resident smartass Kenji Kishimoto, so I was thrilled by the news that the newest Shatter Me novella, Shadow Me, would feature his POV. He needs to find his focus quickly, though, as Sector 45 is in danger of being obliterated. Kenji tries to support his friend, but he has his own distractions to deal with. To Sum It Up: As Juliette prepares to face the sector leaders of The Reestablishment as supreme commander, the rest of her world seems to be falling apart. ![]()
